James is Professor of Global Politics & Anti-Slavery at the University of Nottingham. While Director of the United Nations University Centre for Policy Research in New York, he founded the Liechtenstein Initiative for Finance Against Slavery & Trafficking (‘FAST’), which he led for three years until April 2021. He now serves as a Senior Fellow with FAST, while also providing the Secretariat for Investors Against Slavery and Trafficking Asia-Pacific. For the last year James has Chaired the US Council on Foreign Relations Study Group on Human Trafficking, and served in the World Economic Forum Global Futures Council on Equity and Social Justice. His most recent monograph is Developing Freedom: The Sustainable Development Case for Ending Modern Slavery (January 2021).
